Where’d you get the idea?
Over and over we just wanted to know where we could find a beer special after work. There wasn’t a single place to go that had up-to-date info. So we made it. That concept turned into the Drink Specials App as you know and love it today. It’s the power of our users all over the world that makes the app so great.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
We’ll be the largest, most accurate drink specials platform in the world…
Where did the specials come from?
You the user! This directory is made and maintained by users, bar owners and City Ambassadors. It’s a living database, kept up to date by users so it’s always fresh.
What happened in the 2.0 upgrade?
What didn’t happen. We’ve got movable maps, live in-app bar adding, more user rights, sharing on facebook and twitter, a change in “last verified” time to be more readable, more cities, better adding and updating…you might find a full kitchen sink available in there too!
Why do you want my e-mail to create an account?
Great question. When you register for an account with the Drink Specials App, we assign you certain rights to add, verify and strike specials in the app. You give us your email so we can tie those rights to you and your iPhone/Touch. This way, we can easily know who you are, and extend your rights with the City Ambassador program, if you like. Just a convenience.
I keep hitting my limits, why?
You’re an active user! We pre-set limits for all users to make sure everyone can interact with the specials data positively. You can only add so many strikes, verify or add so many specials in a given day. Try back in 24 hours, or ask to upgrade your rights if you are really into it! So I can just add any special I want? I’m gonna make one up!
You can add specials right from the app and they will be available to everyone else immediately! Just go click the “Add Special” button and fill out the basic information, and you’re done. It will ask you for the Day, Start Time, End Time, Type and Description of the special. It will show up instantly inside the app for other users to verify.
Why can’t I just add a bar inside the app?
You can! Just download the 2.0 release, live in the app store!
The top bar isn’t the closest? What gives?
This is a bar who has paid us to be the #1 listing for a city. It’s the same way Google works except on a tiny scale. We will feature up to one bar per city per day. That bar will show up at the top of the specials list, even if it isn’t the closest. Bars love being able to reach you as a local drinker. Win-Win.
These distances aren’t right!
That happens sometimes. iPhone is awesome, but if you ever have an issue, try hitting “back” and then try the GPS again. Otherwise, click the “Update Bar Info” button and we will check the location again automatically. That usually does the trick. If a bar is way off, let us know on the Feedback page. We’ll fix it right up.
Why would I care when this special was verified?
Because you know the last time someone agreed that a special was correct. If it hasn’t been verified in a long time, it might be a stale special. If it has been recently, it lets you know it’s current. Keep hitting those “verify” and “strike” buttons to make sure the list is up-to-date.
I know there are more bars in this city, why can’t I see them?
Check the filters at the bottom of the screen. You will only see bars with specials that match the filters.

Why is this bar locked for editing?
A bar can elect to “lock” its specials if they want to ensure they are correct. This way the bar provides the app with the list directly and then locks it from editing because they know it’s 100% right. Bars can find out about locking here.
This isn’t a bar anymore! WTF?
It happens sometimes. Bars come and go…sunrise, sunset. Click “Out of Business” and it’ll be taken care of.
I own a bar, and these specials aren’t right!
The users are doing their best, but you can help them out. You can “lock” your bar from editing by going here, and we’ll show you how you can update you specials when they change. Otherwise, if you own the app and register for an account, you can help keep the specials updated just like anyone else.
